The new, more streamlined login experience for apps and services will continue to roll out throughout 2023. It’s coming in stages to all faculty, staff, and students.  

What to know about this step of the transition: 

  • Throughout June, test groups experienced changes to the login process specifically for Microsoft Office 365 applications, Adobe, Code42, Slate, K2, Smartsheet, Miro, Saviynt, OneDrive LTI, Jamf Connect, PowerAutomate, and others. 
  • Over the course of the transition, the login process may have extra steps. These are temporary. Variations in the login process may include additional windows where you’ll need to input your credentials more than once, additional Microsoft Authenticator steps (if installed), and added trusted browser verifications.  
  • You may also notice the Duo prompt looks different.  
  • Both the new login experience and the current single sign-on (SSO) experience are live, based on the app or service you’re using, until 1Login is fully rolled out to all sites and services later this year.  

What to do: 

  • The next group to be rolled out with the new login experience includes faculty and staff, and it will happen on June 22. Look for alerts in the Employee Hub and your email inbox for specific dates, times, and timely instructions. 
  • Please plan extra time for the morning of your rollout to reauthenticate as necessary, especially if you have a meeting or presentation scheduled.  
  • You may need to log in several times and reconnect to your file storage and applications more than once.  
  • While the experience may look different, you should expect to log in with your Northeastern credentials and use the services as you normally would. 
  • If you’re using PowerAutomate, you should manually run each flow after login. When doing this, your flows may fail and trigger a reauthentication prompt. You will not be alerted to this until each flow runs and fails. Please allow ample time to complete this task individually for each flow.    
  • If you have a personal desk phone using Teams, you may need to sign back in after the rollout.

1Login is the campaign to bring greater simplicity to Northeastern’s single sign-on (SSO) experience, moving SSO to Microsoft’s Azure Active Directory platform. It helps solve some of the biggest challenges with account logins and provides a single, improved login experience.
